Introduction and Aims
The demographic for my music magazine is over a large
audience; there are also a wide variety of people that may be interested in the
magazine. The style of my magazine will be more specific and will be aimed at
people in the 16-30 age group. Because of the amount of people that may buy my
magazine it will be aimed at both male and female, these people will mainly be
in the socio economic group of C2, D, E. Because of the wide target audience the
magazine will not look too unprofessional or look to be aimed at young people. I
would like the magazine to have the look of a more expensive magazine, well
laid out, good finish but I want to aim the magazine at a lower price range.
To find inspiration fro my magazine I have researched a
number of magazines like Vibe and NME, both magazines often use one large
picture of a well know artist and are mostly in front of the title of the
magazine. This is the style that I will use for my magazine but will use
different typefaces to make my magazine different.
I have decide to use the genres Pop and R&B because I
feel that these genres combined have more people following them than any other
genre and this will mean the target audience will be much larger. This links
with the socio economic group as a large amount of the C2, D, E group will be
listening to tis music. Because of the large variety of people that these
genres have the magazine will have to be something for every one. I will have
to make the magazine organised and interesting but also attractive to people when
they are looking at magazines in shops.
The kinds of artists that I would consider using in my
magazine are the script, Ne-Yo, flo-rida and Cheryl Cole. I would consider
using these artists because they are well known with in the target audience and
f they are on the front cover people will have something to relate to with the
magazine.
The whole layout of my magazine will be influenced by the
graphic designer Wim Crowel, in his work he uses text and then makes it
illegible by taking sections of the text away but laving enough to keep the
text recognisable. When using the illegible text I will be able to use a teaser
campaign where the first magazine will have standard text and then every
magazine after will lose part of the text until the text doesn’t resemble the
word but will be recognisable to my magazine.
